Description
The Okavango Delta, located in Botswana, is one of the very few major interior delta systems that do not flow into a sea or ocean, with an area of between 6,000 and 15,000 square kilometers. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is produced by seasonal flooding and supports a wide variety of animal and plant life, many of which are not found anywhere else in the world. The Delta's diverse species are adapted to the extreme conditions of flooding and drying.
